Tenant vetting and illegal use of rented property

27/02/2010

However according to David Alexander, our proprietor, landlords can greatly help themselves avoid becoming innocent victims in the first place by using a reputable rental agency, such as D J Alexander, with a proven tenant vetting service. He said: “Under such a system, potential tenants are required to prove that they are in regular full time employment, posses a bank current account and can provide at least two character references from people in positions of trust. Although not infallible the system has a proven record of weeding out – if you’ll forgive the pun – undesirable applicants for tenancies.”

Mr Alexander added: “This system does, of course, have a price but the sum is likely to be miniscule compared to the costs that may come from unwittingly letting out a house or flat to cannabis growers.”
