The residential letting agency, D J Alexander, has dipped into the commercial sector to exploit what it regards as a gap in the house rental market.
Alex Burnett, a chartered surveyor, has joined the company from the Glasgow office of Colliers International and been given the role of liaising with bankers, property developers and solicitors.
Burnett says: “There are opportunities to bring more properties to the market for rent, such as ‘tired’ or empty office buildings or unsold homes. And although lending is extremely tight, we may even be able to put forward a case for developing new homes for rent in some instances.”
A graduate of land economics at Aberdeen University, Mr Burnett (27) worked for Colliers International for three years, specialising in landlord and tenant issues across the commercial property spheres.
