We are DJ Alexander, a fast-growing UK property management company with big ambitions and a new brand, apropos, launching in January. We need to gather and analyse a wide range of data spread across integrated and disparate, internal and external systems, and we are seeking a data expert to join our dynamic team in central Edinburgh.  We are supported by EPCC and The Data Lab

What the job involves

You will be responsible for gathering and analysing data from across our business and the wider industry in order to deliver against specific goals and to provide the necessary insight for the further expansion of our business.

Some of the finer details of the job; you will:

  • Use initiative and imagination to complete data knowledge requirements from a variety of external sources
  • Enable us to make well-informed and data-driven commercial decisions
  • Strive for the highest standards of data quality and governance
  • Continually innovate using the latest technology to improve collection, visualisation and analysis of data
  • Design specific algorithms to enable the business to make decisive and exciting new business strategy decisions

What you will need:

  • Proven track record in data analysis and problem solving, particularly in relation to large datasets where gaps in knowledge exist
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills
  • Thirst for knowledge and ability to seek out new sources of pertinent data
  • Eye for detail and accuracy
  • Good knowledge and experience in working with technologies such as R, SQL, Power BI, and Excel across semi-structured data sets
  • The ability to work quickly, under pressure and to deadlines
  • Up-to-date knowledge of technology and data regulations
  • Degree qualification in mathematics, statistics, computer science or a related subject
  • Current legal right to work in the UK

The Role:- 

This challenging role will put on the front line, managing a range of property management tasks including viewings, inventories, inspections and checkouts, with no two days the same! Ideally, we are looking for a Property Manager with a least one years’ experience within property lettings, with knowledge of the different areas of Edinburgh.  Alternatively, someone with a strong sales background within a target driven environment will be considered for the role.

The candidate should be a highly effective negotiator, with excellent communications skills, a strong customer service background and have great attention to detail.  This is an excellent opportunity to join a prestigious company currently expanding, in a varied and fast paced role with fantastic career prospects.

Responsibilities are varied but will include:-

  • Carrying out viewings of available properties 
  • Negotiating tenancy agreements
  • Liaising with landlords after viewings to agree tenancies
  • Managing landlords’ expectations regarding possible works required
  • Managing incoming tenants’ expectations to avoid disappointment at move in
  • Regular marketing updates Renegotiating entry dates as required
  • Dealing with phone and email enquiries
  • Booking appointments
  • Updating landlords
  • Rent arrears visits
  • New inventories and inventory updates
  • Check out inspections
  • Confirming cleaning requirements
  • Establishing dilapidation responsibility
  • Liaising with the team over issues affecting proposed lease start date
  • Routine inspections and resulting landlord updates/upgrades Updating system/saving reports/inventories/photos

 Requirements you will need:-

  • Full clean drivers’ licence
  • Ideally 1 years Property Management Experience
  • Can demonstrate good negotiation/communication skills and be very competent in resolving conflict and potential disputes – both written and verbal
  • IT proficient
  • Personable character with the ability to multi task and perform under pressure
  • Working hours of Monday – Thursday 9am – 5.30pm and Fridays 9am – 5pm
