Reporting to the Property Maintenance Manager the overall purpose of this role is to manage the day-to-day property administration.

Key Responsibilities:-

  • Telephone and email requests from tenants.
  • Liaising between tenants/landlords and contractors
  • Recording and instructing work orders to contractors
  • Obtaining quotes and dealing with insurance claims.
  • Organising annual safety certification checks.

D.J. Alexander Accounts Team is responsible for the day-to-day financial operations for our letting business to ensure all rent payments are collected and paid to our clients. As well as this, the department undertakes a number of supplementary processes prior to the beginning and end of each tenancy.

We are looking for someone with very good organisational skills, who is an excellent communicator and can work well under pressure while dealing with the general public.  A confident people person with previous office administration experience is essential, with good attention to detail.

While Property Management experience is not essential, it is preferable and will make the transition for the successful applicant easier with some sector knowledge.    


  • Managing the communication process with tenants in rent arrears, by phone, email to ensure payments are collected in line with tenancy agreements.
  • Update system to record cases of rent arrears and liaise with all parties, landlords and tenants to ensure both parties are aware of agreed payment plans or next course of action.
  • Create reporting for Team Managers and Department Heads to track open cases, highlighting cases based on tenant responses.
  • Arrange weekly review meetings to discuss next steps.
  • Arranging door step visits for Property Managers to discuss arrears with the tenants.
  • Raising cases with the Housing & Property Chamber First-tier Tribunal for Scotland and attending any case management discussion where required.

To be considered for this position, candidates must have the following background and skills:

  • Previous experience of working in a credit control/collections/debt management environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Able to work in a fast paced, busy team environment
  • Experience of hitting individual and team KPI's targets

We are looking to add a full time painter/decorator to our expanding property maintenance trade team. The company requires candidates who can deliver excellent organisational and people skills to work independently and also within an existing well organised and motivated team. Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Undertake a range of painting tasks, to meet client requirements
  • Ensure Health and Safety regulations are complied with at all times

  • Apply paint and other finishes like varnishes and stains to a variety of surfaces including wood, metals and plastics
  • Surface preparation, masking, mixing and clean-up
  • Using a range of coverings to enhance and protect surfaces

We are looking to add a full time Electrician to our expanding property maintenance trade team to to undertake electrical services, including EICR’s (together with Remedial works), PAT testing and installation of smoke detectors.

What the job involves

Based in Edinburgh, you will be responsible for helping to promote our exciting new brand in order to achieve enormous growth.  You will develop and manage the execution of earned media campaigns at UK national level, working in collaboration with senior staff and our external creative agency.  This is a chance for you to play a pivotal role in our massive business transformation.

We need you to:

  • Develop, plan, coordinate and manage earned media campaigns
  • Write and coordinate press releases and articles
  • Arrange and organise events, interviews and press conferences
  • Advise senior staff on responses to the media
  • Attend press conferences and interviews with senior staff
  • Organise the production of relevant collateral
  • Contact journalists to engage them in press releases
  • Answer enquiries from journalists
  • Monitor media coverage and prepare regular evaluation reports
  • Proof-read and if necessary rewrite articles and media statements
  • Network with journalists in order to foster good relations with the media
  • Respond to the media during crisis PR events or negative incidents

Your key skills:

  • We expect you to have a number of years’ recent experience working on earned campaigns
  • You must have excellent written and spoken English, and excellent presentation skills
  • You will have good interpersonal skills and the ability to persuade and negotiate
  • You must be resilient and be able to handle criticism from external sources
  • You need to have an eye for detail and a strong sense of the need for consistent and standardised messaging
  • You are likely to have at least an undergraduate degree in an appropriate subject such as English, journalism, media studies or public relations, but we will consider candidates with appropriate skills and experience
  • You must be able to work quickly, under pressure and to changing deadlines
  • You must have a current legal right to work in the UK
