Edinburgh’s Georgian New Town lies less than approximately half a mile from Princes Street and the commercial area of the city. The New Town offers a rich array of shops, restaurants, bars, art galleries and open parkland to be enjoyed on one’s doorstep. To the north, cosmopolitan Stockbridge offers an excellent variety of speciality shops, restaurants and pubs. One of the local parks, King George V, allows immediate access to the network of former railway lines which provide extensive paths for walking and cycling which cross the city. In addition, the Royal Botanic Garden and the banks of the Water of Leith afford pleasant walks, whilst the many cultural and historical attractions of Edinburgh are within the city centre.
